Happy Friday everyone. Excited for the weekend!?? ‘Cause I sure am. I have been doing such a better job (in the new year) at working LESS and taking time off. It was a goal of mine and I have to say… it’s been pretty easy to achieve. I rest more, eat more (and better), I ride my bike a ton (because they bay area is friggin’ gorgeous), the list of fun activities goes on…

Here are two pictures from this week that I thought I would share. The one of the car makes me so happy. Between its orange color and the pink house, my eyes love that little part of my street. The frames are a work in progress but I thought I would still show off the incomplete arrangement of things. First things first, O MY GOSH I am so bad at hanging stuff. It was a challenge to perfect the spacing but I did it (with a helping hand) and adore it. I am waiting on a few more things to go up and then it will be done. I’ll show the finished wall, promise.

Note: The “first draft” poster was made by me. I had a lot of people ask that on Instagram so I figured I’d clarify. That saying is a lesson that I experience over and over again within graphic design – as well as with everything else in life! It is SO TRUE and I think about it on a daily basis  |  The french cut-out canvas is by Jimmy Marble  |  The “Phases of the Moon” poster is by Kristen Marie  |  More to come!

Love how your wall gallery is coming together :) I cannot wait to see it completed! Have a great weekend!

I love your gallery wall! this gives me inspiration to get mine up!

you should consider selling the “first draft” print! it reminds me of a poster Alan Dye gave me in school that says “I’m so glad you got that shit out of your system so now you can make some good work.”

always a great reminder!

Great arrangement! I had been eyeing that Jimmy Marble piece at Reform School, I love it. And your piece is beautiful and so true!
Thanks for the inspiration.

Love this! I’m just recently getting better at setting business hours for myself. I used to respond anytime I saw an email, even if it was midnight when I got back from a dinner/date with my husband. I’m still bad about checking, but unless something’s really urgent, I tell myself it can wait til morning… small change, but it helps.

Yay! Congrats on new beginnings and fresh start up there! Maybe you should do a give away for that poster since it’s so popular ;)

I love your poster! I’m a perfectionist and get so frustrated when something is not perfect right away. Thanks for the reminder and it’s nice to know designers I look up to need a second draft, too!

Great job on the first draft poster, I was one of the people that asked on instagram.
Seriously love it, SO RELATABLE. May need to give it a go and make my own spin of the poster :)

Love this! And soooo true about the first draft. I’m realizing this more and more…lol…the catch 29 is, when you realize it, it’s hard not to just get some shit out there to have it be done and then you can fix it – or maybe I’m just weird and am tempted to do this? heh.

Oh, lucky you for living in the bay area :)? Did you already try out a lot of cafés, restaurants,…? (oh and you should think about selling copies if that poster, it’s great!)

This is fantastic. Have you read “Bird by Bird” by Anne Lamott? She has a whole chapter called “Shitty First Drafts”.

Would you be interested in selling it? I’d love to buy a print!

Thanks!

Love it! I’m a wife and a cook and a knitter and the furthest thing from a designer… Looking forward to following your blog and developing good (or at least better) taste in design!

I love the first draft poster. Is there somewhere I can purchase one? It’s something I’d love to have in my office or on my wall at home.
