Oh just day dreamin* about buying stuff in specific color palettes, ha… you know – the usual :) How great is this minty eye ball bag from Monki? It is incredibly affordable so you should all consider treating yourself to a new grocery bag! Living in Berkeley has forced me to carry little bags around all the time now – you have to pay for them when you shop! At the grocery store, Walgreens, anywhere – it’s like 10 cents a pop. I actually really like it a lot :) It forces people to be more environmentally friends. Cheers to that!

Okay Okay so I know I just ooo’ed & gooo’ed over Makeshift Society & how much I love working there – & I do! But – there were some things missing that caused me to hit craigs list hard & start searching for something of my own. Something like what I had in Los Angeles.
I didn’t like that I had to lug all my stuff into Makeshift and clean up at the end of the day. Not only did it use valuable time but it interrupted my work flow and halted my creative process & momentum. I like to set up shop, make a mess, and leave it there for me to seamlessly pick up the next day. Also, as inspiring as the place was, it didn’t feel like my own. I like to hang stuff up, stack things, rearrange, tape up inspiration, blare music, invite people over, get messy, clean up… I have to be able to let loose and claim my territory! Everyone is different – these are my demands!!
So, somehow I lucked out and found this gem. I won’t share TOO much about it right now because I am planning a killer make-over and will document the whole thing for you guys. Get excited!! p.s. My 3 studio mates are painters – cool right??

Hey Top Notch Type followers!! Eva here, I want to thank you all for being avid type lovers for the past year! But unfortunately, #38 will be my last. Fear not, Emma will carry on this amazing column so it won’t be going anywhere, we can assure you that. I’ve had so much fun finding new fonts each (& every other) week. It was a great way to create without boarders. This may be the end for me, but there will always be new (free) fonts to be found! -Eva Black

Introducing, Christian Sorensen Hansen. Do you guys remember Chantal last week? Well, he’s her boyfriend! What a killer couple huh??
Here’s a little bit about him: “I’m a director originally from Seattle, WA but currently residing in Los Angeles. I do a ton of music video and commercial work but right now I’m focusing on a series of short documentaries entitled Something From Nothing. The series features a group of Seattle artists working in a range of mediums who have inspired me over the years. I’m also happy to say I just launched a new website, something that was long overdue.”
…and now his favorite item and why:
“I’m constantly traveling so having functional and versatile clothing is key. Filson garments fit those requirements with a design that is hardly in need of revision over the last 100 years. The Shelter Cloth only gets better with age and the bucket pockets in the front are a catch-all for everything from rolls of film to left over sandwiches. My girlfriend even uses the internal ammo pouches to carry around her DSLR when she steals the coat from me.”

Have you guys heard about this site, Type Fight? Two designers are asked to create the same letter & pin them against each other in the “typographic ring to battle it out for best looking character!” It is really interesting to see which one is the crowd pleaser. They are always so completely different in style so it’s hard to choose a favorite. I wish I had more experience creating letterforms!!

I came across OYOY Living via Milk Magazine ( two wonderful resources for interiors ). These images are from their SS13 Catalogue – I love the balance of all the white and natural materials with the bright pops of color and pattern. I feel like this is probably what I am going to start leaning towards because it’s easier to rotate the color out and keep the neutral base around ( for when you’re needing a change, that is ).
The home that I am in right now is temporary so I haven’t been doing too much nesting. I am anxious to find the perfect place and get settled in – buy some furniture, ya know… the whole ordeal + !! All this time, I have somehow managed to bop around from place to place without investing in too many belongings. I will most definitely be starting from scratch. Exciting or Overwhelming? A little bit of both.
…and now, some of my favorite items from their current line:
A black & white Confetti Cushion | A Tri-Tear Hanging Storage that would be perfect for plants or groceries | Hook Tippetop Mini’s for a pop of color on the wall | A Neon Japanese Cushion to really brighten up the room | and geometric Candle Stick Holders to keep things interesting.

Introducing Chantal Andrea, an editorial & lifestyle photographer living in Los Angeles, CA. I met Chantal through my old ( and greatly missed ) roommate, Marissa Maharaj. Chantal ended up shooting our roomie Christmas photos – remember these?? She is incredibly talented and such a free spirit. Here are some words of her own —> “The past few months I’ve been roaming up and down the west coast, shooting in Africa, and just wrapped a friend’s lookbook I shot in Berlin. My documentary-based work is made up of scenes from life on the road & portraits of people who intrigue me. I spend my free days hiking by the ocean, cooking meals with friends, and doing yoga. I’m currently working on a documentary photo project about LA’s laundromats, planning a couple spring look-book shoots, and dreaming up my next road trip.” Note: You can see all of the beautiful photos from her adventures on her Instagram.
…and now her favorite piece and why:
I adore my flat top ring made by my friend Kelly Sorensen Hansen. Kelly’s got this incredible knack for crafting things with her hands that I really admire. Wearing it reminds me of her and that creative spirit I love.
THANKS Chantal – and everyone stay tuned for next weeks Gentle-man, her boyfriend!!!

Also, check out their playful video that makes you want to run around through piles of food with flowers?? -or- eat piles of yummy bread & butter!? -or- wear lots of bright colors in celebration that Spring is coming…
