This just about sums up what I spent my entire weekend doing! There was lots of white paint, and more paint, and then a huge amount of MORE white paint… It is in my hair, on my shoes, and under my nails. I decided to give the place a really good clean before I moved in – I am so glad that I took the time to dust everything off and give it a fresh face. I can’t give you too many details because I will be showing the space off in its entirety pretty soon. For now, you get to see…. paint :) ha.

I wanted to share a few people that recently caught my eye on Instagram. It’s so easy ( …at least it is for me ) to be content with everyone I am currently following and forget to look for new ones — or — to stay on top of the people I already know and take the time to seek them out!! Every once in a while I sit down with the intention of finding new, fresh, inspiring people ( and un-following those who I have grown tied of, ha ). I usually do this by hitting up the people I am 100% in love with and peeking into who they follow. Nine times out of 10, I find a handful of awesome newbies. It’s such a cool feeling discovering new worlds that you were unaware of. Who are your new favorites? Share the wealth!!
This week it is: 01. Stephanie Somebody | 02. House of Habit | 03. Amy Merrick | 04 . Oh Lady Cakes

I absolutely love these pieces by Suno. The prints are unique with such great detailed – and are in colors that aren’t too overwhelming. That last black & white dress is my favorite – I love the stripes over the tiny floral pattern. Check out the back of it – perfect for an extra warm day!

Introducing Victoria Vu – “I’m a stationery & architectural designer, a Los Angeles transplant, a morning person! These days I’m busying with custom invitations, a little illustration for Darling Magazine, & dreaming up new paper goods for the shop. When I’m not thinking about Paper & Type, it’s nice to unwind with good friends & food, explore new neighborhoods on foot, & sneak in a visit home home to Northern California once in awhile…”
…and now her favorite piece & why:
This blouse has served me incredibly well – it’s become a part of my regular uniform since I picked it up last fall! I love that it can so easily be proper or relaxed, be buttoned or layered upon. That rounded collar is just the right touch, & navy blue is one of my go-tos. An honorable mention should also be given to these trusty sandals, which are essentials in a city of endless summers.
Also – Victoria has kindly offered up a pair of her Ranunculus cards for one lucky winner to enjoy ( …she also plans to include a few other smaller treats, fyi!! ) To enter the giveaway, leave a comment below about your favorite item in her shop!

Hey Everyone! Now that Eva has sadly left the column, I decided to invite a few guest type lovers to show us what they’ve got. I found this week’s designer, Jonathan Lawrence, on Dribbble and knew he would kill it! ( …and he did, of coarse ) One of my favorite projects that he’s worked on is this one, for Richard Photo Lab. Talk about taking a logo and making it come to life. Bravo Jon! Keep it up.
“I probably dislike 95% of the free fonts out there. Finding one that has quality and consistency in all it’s characters can be pretty challenging. That being said, I really like this font, Hello Denver, designed by Good Apples. It’s got a nice, strong industrial feel to it. A little vintage, a little modern, something you’d see on the side of a train. It’s difficult to read at small sizes, and not available in small caps, but still really nice for display text, headlines, or any large details.” -Jonathan Lawrence

Introducing Jenn Elliott Blake – ( I’m diggin’ all of her knitted goodies!! )
You can see and read more about this post over at her blog today!
“For the past year I’ve been focusing most of my energies on engaging in creative collaborations with friends across the world. As a freelance prop stylist & event designer, I love the ability to create without restriction and to push the envelope with my clients. I recently just wrapped a styling project for an upcoming party book coming out later this fall, and am looking forward to a summer FULL of travel – Germany, Barcelona, Ireland, Thailand and India are all on the brain. When I’m not traveling, I love sharing my inspirations on my blog SCOUT, spending time with my husband at home or having drinks & coffee dates in my favorite neighborhoods with friends.”
…and now her favorite piece and why:
“I love my 3 euro bargain bin thrift store hat. I found it while prowling through Paris with some very close friends and every time I wear it I’m reminded of our adventures. It’s my daily go to item as it matches everything in my closet, is the perfect solution for bad hair days, and since the weather in the PNW doesn’t really warm up until late summer, it helps tame that Puget Sound chill.”
THANKS Jenn.

Oh just day dreamin* about buying stuff in specific color palettes, ha… you know – the usual :) How great is this minty eye ball bag from Monki? It is incredibly affordable so you should all consider treating yourself to a new grocery bag! Living in Berkeley has forced me to carry little bags around all the time now – you have to pay for them when you shop! At the grocery store, Walgreens, anywhere – it’s like 10 cents a pop. I actually really like it a lot :) It forces people to be more environmentally friends. Cheers to that!

Okay Okay so I know I just ooo’ed & gooo’ed over Makeshift Society & how much I love working there – & I do! But – there were some things missing that caused me to hit craigs list hard & start searching for something of my own. Something like what I had in Los Angeles.
I didn’t like that I had to lug all my stuff into Makeshift and clean up at the end of the day. Not only did it use valuable time but it interrupted my work flow and halted my creative process & momentum. I like to set up shop, make a mess, and leave it there for me to seamlessly pick up the next day. Also, as inspiring as the place was, it didn’t feel like my own. I like to hang stuff up, stack things, rearrange, tape up inspiration, blare music, invite people over, get messy, clean up… I have to be able to let loose and claim my territory! Everyone is different – these are my demands!!
So, somehow I lucked out and found this gem. I won’t share TOO much about it right now because I am planning a killer make-over and will document the whole thing for you guys. Get excited!! p.s. My 3 studio mates are painters – cool right??

Hey Top Notch Type followers!! Eva here, I want to thank you all for being avid type lovers for the past year! But unfortunately, #38 will be my last. Fear not, Emma will carry on this amazing column so it won’t be going anywhere, we can assure you that. I’ve had so much fun finding new fonts each (& every other) week. It was a great way to create without boarders. This may be the end for me, but there will always be new (free) fonts to be found! -Eva Black
