Yes yes… that is Bubba & I making out in the back of a car for a Ray Ban ad :) I’m not going to lie, it was a pretty hilarious experience. Thank god the photographer was my friend, otherwise there would have been a lot more blushing** I was asked to step in & help with styling for this social media campaign! Ray Ban wanted images for unique “holidays” throughout the year:
To name a few favorites –
+ Origami Day (sunglasses that fold up)
+ Vinyl Day (retro red aviators)
+ Kiss & Make Up Day (a colorful & happy pair of shades)
+ Disobedience Day (remember these photos?)
You get the point! We paired these quirky days with a Ray Ban product that mirrors the style of the day!! Overall, it was an awesome experience – I welcome jobs that involve me to step away from the computer any day. My sanity almost requires it.

Introducing Kahana Kalama – a surfer, designer, store owner, dad, and more!
…a bit about him:
“I was born and raised on Oahu and I made my way across the pacific to attend college. While there I found the girl of my dreams married her and we made a baby boy. His name’s Duke. He’s now ten months old and we have another girl on the way. I own a men’s lifestyle collection called Aloha Sunday and multi-brand retail store called Aloha Sunday Supply Company.”
“When I’m not hanging with the family or surfing back home in Hawaii, I’m between our Flagship in North Park and our 2nd location in Leucadia ( north county San Diego ). My design partner and I just debuted our AW14 collection in New York and we are currently shifting gears to designing our SS2015 collections. I’m also in the process of launching a small branding and design studio that will consult for other brands and small businesses in addition to Aloha Sunday.”
…and now, his favorite item & why:
“I’d have to say that my favorite item in this mix would be the Broken Homme Tydus Boot. They have an element of rugged durability matched with classic detailing that can easily be dressed up or down. The best thing of all is my good friends make them up in Los Angeles, CA.”

Happy Friday party-people! It has been insanely gorgeous here in the bay ( i’m talking no jackets, warm sun, cool breeze ) I am going to try my hardest to spend some solid time outdoors… I stayed in last week to finish up my new website & blog designs. At this point, they are 90% developed – I just need to write my copy and take photos of my portfolio! I have been talking about doing this for like, 2 years ( geez ) so it feels pretty damn good to be this close. Stay tuned & wish me luck.

I pretty much need all of these for Spring, please & thank you. A few shops here in San Fran carry Ilana Kohn’s pieces – I think it might be time to go shopping? How adorable is that daisy print?? Ilana is an NYC based fashion designer who started out as a full-time illustrator! She then dove into fashion & now successfully uses her prints & patterns in her collections – it’s such a prefect combination. Bravo +

It’s been a very long time since my last Real-Life Mood-board huh? You’ve seen snippets here & there of my huge one that’s up in the studio right? It’s basically a compilation of everything I have ever gathered & saved! I’m pretty proud of it, I must say. It’s becoming quite a beast.
My studio mate, Bri Scarff, decided to start one of her own ( because the wall is HUGE )!! I’ve really enjoyed seeing what she adds to it each day. I feel like we have very similar visual taste but at the same time, they are so different! We’re hoping that they will eventually meet in the middle and mesh into one big monster of a mood-board. I decided to snap some photos to show you what’s been going up! Enjoy.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Pinterest. But there is something special about the process of finding a scrap of paper with a fabulous pattern on it or tearing a page out of a new magazine… you save it, treasure it, display it! You keep it for as long as you find it inspiring. You always remember where you 1st spotted it and what drew you to it. You have so much more of an experience when you interact with the piece of “inspiration” – as opposed to clicking “pin” online and boom, you’re done. Challenge yourself to do some real life pinning. It feels good :)

Happy Monday! I wanted to let you guys know that Victoria from sfgirlbybay is hosting a Knitting By Design giveaway! Head on over to her wonderful blog to enter! I took some new photos of my favorite pages for her post – so there’s some new content that you guys haven’t seen yet ( if you don’t have the book, that is ). This flower photo by Max Wanger is hands-down one of the best full-photo pages in there. Now that I think about it, I kind of want to frame it for my apartment :)

Dear closet, I’m so sorry I have been neglecting you.
For like… 3 years now!
No joke you guys… I was going through some old photos the other day and found one from 3 YEARS AGO – I was wearing an exact outfit that I still wear today. Same jeans, same chambray, same winter hat. I’m sure we all have our favorite favorite things that we’ve kept for a while but this is stuff that I’m not even that crazy about. It’s just easy to throw on and looks so-so on me. Have I really been distracted by other things for so long that there hasn’t been any room for growth?? What a bummer… I will keep this post focused on my wardrobe but I have to admit, I feel like this applies to other areas of my life as well ( diet, friends, work… )
So what am I going to do about it? Well, for the past 2-3 weeks, I have been cleaning out my closet in an incredibly aggressive way. I mean stacks and stacks of clothing have been hauled out, headed for Goodwill or Buffalo Exchange! It knew this was good but left me feeling very bare-boned in the outfit arena. All of a sudden, I only have 2 pairs of jeans and about 12ish tops that I’m proud to put on and leave the house in. Eeek!! I’m going to stay where I am for a bit and really ask myself how I want to move forward. ( I’ve been super inspired by Maddy ) I’m new to this whole “lean closet” lifestyle – fewer, better things right?? I’m excited. Super curious. More soon!

Introducing the very stylish Madelynn Hackwith Furlong. I first found her on Instagram and died over how strikingly simple and chic her feed was. I very quickly soaked up all she had to offer. I have been incredibly interested in her Perfect Wardrobe blog posts, that talk about “owning less clothing, investing in better quality pieces, and starting the journey to curating a wardrobe that is perfectly you.” These are goals I’ve set for myself so I’m glad to have found someone that will encourage and inspire me through great writing and insanely gorgeous photos :)
…a bit about her:
“Im a designer and stylist recently relocated from NYC to the lovely city of Minneapolis. Most of my time is spent at my day job – designing apparel for a large corporation, helping style for my sister in laws company, Hackwith Design House – and running her online style blog Hackwith Happenings, as well as writing and styling for my own personal blog, Wide Eyed Legless. I also have aspirations to start painting and drawing again this year, which is my first love.”
…and now her favorite piece & why:
“Tough choice – It’s between my boots (because I love shoes) and my necklace, but I would probably go with the necklace. the subtle detail in it is absolutely breathtaking.

Found some goodies over here, at Print.pm! New sources of inspiration are always exciting – the kind that you truly connect with and can’t stop sifting through. This guy is in love with tangible design & blogs about it daily. I wish I worked on more print based projects… I’ve been thinking about creating a “graphic design” bucket list of sorts. Ya know: I want to design this, this, and this before I die ( or retire ) type thing. I’ll share once it comes together. Right now I have: a book cover & a movie title sequence!
