Getting Graphic

September 20, 2012

If you follow me on Instagram, you got a peek at this new addition to my branding the other day. I have been working on this graphic / quirky bio for a few weeks now, adding pieces here and there each day. My goal was to make postcards that I could send out to potential clients to put me on their radar. I am trying to be more proactive about drawing in clients that have a similar style as me. Instead of printing these cards, I opted to order a really huge rubber stamp and save on production costs. I was worried that the tiny details were going to get lost but somehow, it came out crystal clear and legible! Like??

In love with the concept!! I may just try something similar for my blog press package. Of course, it probably won’t be as adorable and graphically cool as this but that won’t stop me from trying.

September 24th 2012

hi emma! beautiful. do you have suggestions for evenly printing with the big stamp? do you use a roller/brayer, or do you just push with your hands? i’m ordering a big stamp for my wedding invitations! thanks for your help and awesome inspiration!

@caroline,

Just push with your hands and make sure to put pressure in every single area of the stamp – not just the middle!! You have to be careful when moving your hands around but it’s doable – go slow :)

Emma, this stamp is just wonderful. I want to think of *something* to stamp now, just so I can get one ;) Checking out simon now!!!

(reply)

September 25th 2012

I have the same questions as caroline + how do you manage to stamp it straight every time?

oh, and i’d like to know about the ink. is it stamp pad ink, or speedball-type ink like you’d use for linoleum block printing?

@Judy@cute & useful,

Hey!!

I just use a stamp pad and make sure to cover every inch really well. Getting it straight is just all about luck. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes NOT so much, ha.

September 25th 2012

great idea. i really love taking the time to put a little bit of handmade into my branding. it really gives it that ‘you’ quality.
